Seconda riunione della Rete Sub-Regionale dell’OMS per l’Europa Occidentale sulla trasformazione della forza lavoro sanitaria per l’assistenza upstream, l’innovazione e l’IA

Questo evento rappresenta la seconda riunione della Rete Sub-Regionale dell’OMS per l’Europa Occidentale, a seguito della riunione inaugurale tenutasi a Londra nel novembre 2025, a cui il Programma Mattone Internazionale Salute (ProMIS) ha partecipato attivamente con una relazione sul TSI Digital skills to increase quality and resilience of the health system in Italy.

La Rete costituisce un forum in cui alti funzionari dei Ministeri della Salute dei Paesi dell’Europa Occidentale possono condividere esperienze e individuare priorità comuni in risposta alle sfide condivise in materia di forza lavoro, tra cui la carenza di personale, l’invecchiamento della forza lavoro e la crescente domanda di assistenza. La collaborazione su questo tema tra il ProMIS e l’OMS nasce in particolare nel contesto del TSI Health Hub – The Italian EU Resources Hub for sustainable investing in health: a case study on health workforce and smart programming tool using AI. L’iniziativa coinvolge anche le Regioni/PPAA italiane tramite il coordinamento del ProMIS.

Sulla base della riunione di Londra, questa seconda sessione esaminerà il modo in cui i Paesi stanno trasformando i modelli di assistenza e le politiche relative alla forza lavoro, concentrandosi su tre temi principali: lo spostamento dell’assistenza verso un approccio upstream, attraverso la prevenzione e l’assistenza primaria e territoriale; l’innovazione nella progettazione dei servizi e della forza lavoro; e la governance, l’adozione e la valutazione dell’intelligenza artificiale in ambito sanitario e assistenziale.

La riunione sarà ospitata in Italia dal ProMIS, con il supporto dell’OMS e il coinvolgimento del Ministero della Salute italiano e della Regione Veneto, e riunirà alti responsabili delle politiche sulla forza lavoro e i referenti HRH designati dagli Stati membri, al fine di concordare priorità condivise per il futuro sviluppo della Rete.

Second meeting of the WHO Sub-Regional Network for Western Europe on transforming the health workforce for upstream care, innovation and AI

This event is the second meeting of the WHO Sub-Regional Network for Western Europe, following the inaugural meeting held in London in November 2025, in which the Programma Mattone Internazionale Salute (ProMIS) took an active part with a presentation on TSI Digital skills to increase quality and resilience of the health system in Italy.

The Network is a forum in which senior officials from the Ministries of Health of Western European countries can share experiences and identify common priorities in response to shared workforce challenges, including staff shortages, an ageing workforce and growing demand for care. Collaboration on this topic between ProMIS and WHO arose in particular in the context of the TSI Health Hub – The Italian EU Resources Hub for sustainable investing in health: a case study on health workforce and smart programming tool using AI. The initiative also involves the Italian Regions/Autonomous Provinces (Regioni/PPAA) through ProMIS coordination.

Building on the London meeting, this second session will examine how countries are transforming care models and workforce policies, focusing on three main themes: shifting care towards an upstream approach through prevention and primary and community care; innovation in service and workforce design; and the governance, adoption and evaluation of artificial intelligence in health and care settings.

The meeting will be hosted in Italy by ProMIS, with the support of WHO and the involvement of the Italian Ministry of Health and the Veneto Region, and will bring together senior workforce policy officials and the HRH focal points designated by Member States, in order to agree on shared priorities for the future development of the Network.
